Grant Gullicks

Twenty-six years as a taxidermist. Experience with all species with a specialty in sheep and Mountain Goats. A philosophy that every mount will be my best work possible.

01 · First Studio Job

Grant's career began at Animal Artistry in Reno, Nevada — then, as now, one of the most respected taxidermy studios in the world. He walked in young, asked for a job, and was hired as a taxidermist assistant. Within six months he was a licensed taxidermist in charge of his own projects. Learning from the best in the world, he quickly began mounting big cats, considered one of the hardest species of animals for a taxidermist to master. For five years he mounted hundreds of cats, sheep, and exotic species in the most demanding shop at the time. Each one a lesson in anatomy, patience, and the particular humility that comes from trying to match — in clay and hide — what an animal did effortlessly for a decade in the wild.

02 · Outdoor Roots

Grant grew up in a hunting family and it was evident from an early age that he loved the outdoors. He spent as much time as possible hunting and fishing. That passion only grew stronger as he formed a life around being outdoors.

03 · Alaska

In 2010 Grant and one of his best friends packed up their trucks and drove to Alaska. The move wasn't a career step — it was an adventure to a place that he had always dreamed about experiencing. The hunting adventures he had imagined were here in Alaska, as well as the chance to hunt Dall Sheep and Mountain Goats every year. No better place to be!

His passion for perfection and realism is evident in every piece that leaves his studio, but sheep are his favorite subjects.

04 · Wild Reflections

Wild Reflections is a small studio. We only accept a limited number of premium, well cared for trophies. This ensures that each project will maintain the highest level of detail and realism.

Wild Reflections has become known for their realism and artistic vision. In particular we have become known for our work with sheep and Mountain Goat. Grant has sculpted his own proprietary sheep forms that makes it impossible for his look to be copied. Chances are that if an impressive ram or billy is harvested in Alaska it will find its way to Wild Reflections.
